Cool Solar Panels

At only 30c per watt you can make a MW for $300,000

Cool Debugger

Head over to http://www.ollydbg.de/

This is a neat little disassembler. Fire it up and open your program.
On the CPU- Main thread window:

Right Click -> Go To -> Expression: Enter the address of the jump
Right Click on the instruction -> Assemble (or hit space)

I changed JNZ to JZ -> Assemble (Proggy changed it to JE - same thing)

View->Patches (Ctrl-P) if you want to see the patches you made.. or undo them

Right Click -> Copy to executable -> All modifications
Press Copy All and a new window will come up: yourprogram.exe
Close that window and you will be asked to save it as a different name (good idea in case it screws up)

Building a Linux Box

As always the case i head back to Linux to stuff around and see whats cooking. A few things I want to try:

1. Send an SMS from my connected Nokia phone if the power is cut.

This should be pretty easy. Firstly i need a ups to execute a command if the power is cut. I'm pretty sure this will be handled well in Linux. Next I need a program that will send an SMS thru my phone. I'm thinking of using one of these programs:

a) Gnokii
b) Wammu

2. Set up a camera security system with movement detection

Ive seen a few proggys about and I think this one is best: ZoneMinder

Pool Chemical Rip Off.

I went into Woolworths and was looking at chlorine for my pool.. it had gone a bit green and it was time to give it a shock and some algicide.... oh btw pools are easy to look afer if:

1. Its a salt pool with a self cleaning chlorinator.
2. Sand Filter
3. Every 6 months you put in 2 bags of salt and 500mls of algicide and 1 ltr of acid.

Now we come down to the irritating part... I was looking at some powdered chlorine to give the pool a shock and bring it back to normal. Here was 2 options:

Product A - $25 for 4kg
Product B - $27 for 4kg

Cholriene is chloriene right? Well yes but on closer inspection I saw that A had %50 free chlorine and B had 70% free chlorine... So i spent the $2 more and got heaps more chlorine!

Then for some algicide....

Product A - $15 for 1ltr - 20grams per ltr of copper
Product B - $16 for 1ltr - 40grams per ltr of copper

Product A had almost sold out when Product B was twice as superior! This is why when buying chemicals always look at the active ingredient and see how much there is.
