I went into Woolworths and was looking at chlorine for my pool.. it had gone a bit green and it was time to give it a shock and some algicide.... oh btw pools are easy to look afer if:
1. Its a salt pool with a self cleaning chlorinator.
2. Sand Filter
3. Every 6 months you put in 2 bags of salt and 500mls of algicide and 1 ltr of acid.
Now we come down to the irritating part... I was looking at some powdered chlorine to give the pool a shock and bring it back to normal. Here was 2 options:
Product A - $25 for 4kg
Product B - $27 for 4kg
Cholriene is chloriene right? Well yes but on closer inspection I saw that A had %50 free chlorine and B had 70% free chlorine... So i spent the $2 more and got heaps more chlorine!
Then for some algicide....
Product A - $15 for 1ltr - 20grams per ltr of copper
Product B - $16 for 1ltr - 40grams per ltr of copper
Product A had almost sold out when Product B was twice as superior! This is why when buying chemicals always look at the active ingredient and see how much there is.

No Athiests in foxholes
I read that there are no atheists in foxholes. Absolutely correct... why the hell would I want to be in a foxhole? To get the chance to shoot at some one? Shooting at people is not very christian is it? Or is it a chance for some one to shoot at me?
Then again why are there religious wars? Who has the better imaginary friend? He started it!
I am an atheist.. when I die that is the end. Religion makes life less precious because you have a place to go to when you die... I do not have this luxury. I will not be manipulated into fighting a war since this is the only life I have.
If we all knew we would be dead when we die would we have wars? For wars to happen someone must convince others to die... for they know when you die you will be dead, this is why you fight for them and they not fight for you.

Today I get a visit from the Jehovah Witnesses.. most people shut the door on them but being an inquisitive fella i always like to have a chat to them.. Now 99/100 times they are polite, beautiful people. (the other 1% was a bloke who said my house was blessed and god lived here... or something.. he had weird axe murder eyes and came across way too freaky so I sent him on his way).
Now I am a man of science and know that we evolved the Darwinian way of natural selection due to some pretty hard evidence. Science doesn't explain how the first cell was formed (yet) but has very conclusive evidence that we all have a common ancestor. Check out these two for some light reading.

After demonstrating my limited knowledge of evolution they proceeded down a different track... have you noticed that this world is becoming a more dangerous place.... really? Well let me see.. From my point of view i was born in 1977 and since then i have a had a happy child hood, suffered no debilitating diseases, had 2 deaths in the family from natural causes (although these days there is no natural causes). Dangerous... well i think the wild west was more dangerous, I think fighting in ww1 or ww2, Vietnam was more dangerous, I think having a shorter life span was more dangerous.. So I think the world is getting safer.
I think paranoia is getting greater but I don't think religion will solve that!,
I think people are not bringing up their kids properly and the family unit is degrading but I think religion could solve that.
What i think we need is a forum where people can meet to discuss family values but I don't think it should be mixed with the narrow mindedness of todays religion. Do we call it a community group..? because this forum must be stripped of faith and instead must be replaced with trust.. and that trust must be earned and not blindly accepted as gospel.

That quote perfectly describes my encounter with Jehovah witnesses. Some people adore faith... whereas i think faith puts the blinkers on and closes your mind to other possibilities. You should always accept new ideas and process them yourself. Take what makes sense to you and when you find what makes sense don't close the doors... leave them open, a better idea may come along.
